Watersports Centre Manager

Looking for the chance to develop your watersports management skills in a venue with untapped custom and a fantastic sailing area?

Rosneath is a small watersports centre, based in a holiday park with regular visitors, with beach-based watersports. The centre is part of a family run business, Rosneath Castle Caravan Park, with staff accommodation provided. The villages of Rosneath and Kilcreggan are nearby, with a range of local services.

The watersports centre activity is being rebuilt, after being dormant for approx. 5 years, and recently achieved its AALA licence. We are now looking for someone with a passion for watersports to take up the reins and build the centre up towards being a focus for sailing and paddlesports, not only for Rosneath Holiday Park but for the local area and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the General Manager, the Watersports Centre Manager will be responsible for running the Watersports Centre, ensuring the safe hire of boats, paddleboards, and kayaks to owners and other guests.

Specific duties:
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Management responsibility for the hire crew
  • Overseeing the performance of freelance Watersports Instructors, providing coaching and guidance where required
  • Building the reputation, capacity, and success of the Watersports Centre to benefit park visitors and local residents
  • Ensuring that all Watersports activities are conducted in a safe manner and that exceptional levels of customer service are provided to all users of the facility
  • Ensuring that all Watersports equipment is fit for purpose and maintained to a high standard
  • Identifying ways of ensuring optimal usage of the Watersports centre and facilities.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Senior or Dinghy Instructor qualification including a Power Boat Level 2 certificate or equivalent snd/ or Paddlesports Instructor / Leader qualification
  • Experience teaching Watersports for at least one year or more
  • Valid First Aid certificate
  • Prior experience in leading/managing others and providing basic training
  • Some experience in boat repair/maintenance
  • Experience in managing a watersports facility would also be advantageous.

Training is a key part of staff development at Rosneath, and opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge will be on offer as part of the staff benefits.

There has been significant investment into the purchase of equipment to provide a fantastic experience for anyone that comes for lessons or to hire, and a team of freelance instructors have been brought in to help with the delivery of activity – we just need that special someone to come and take the lead!

Other attributes required:

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • A passion for providing exceptional customer service
  • Basic IT literacy in Microsoft products
  • Planning skills.
  • If you have an RYA Senior Instructor qualification, or paddlesports leader/ instructor qualifications (or both) and have taught watersports for a year or so, then we would love to hear from you!
